Half term is here again, which means a week of day trips, playdates and more mealtimes to plan around than usual. The good news: restaurants, cafés and family-friendly chains across the UK are running kids eat free (or for £1) offers to help take some of the pressure off the food bill. From big-name chains to local favourites, we've rounded up the best deals and where to find them below, so you can start planning where to eat without worrying about the cost this October.

Kids eat free deals
1. Bill's
When: 9-31 October
Breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner — however you land there, up to two kids eat free with one adult main at Bill's. There's a seasonal extra too: free pancakes for kids after 4pm on Halloween weekend.
2. Banana Tree
When: 17 October-1 November
Banana Tree swaps the usual chain fare for Southeast Asian flavours: a protein main with a side and dip, plus a drink and dessert, free for kids with any full-priced adult main (one per adult, capped at six per table).
3. Chiquito
When: 17 October-1 November
At Chiquito every adult main unlocks a full Mini Amigos meal for the kids on the table including a main, side, drink and dessert included. Expect mini fajitas or melty quesadillas, plus veggie sticks and sliced apple on the side.
4. TGI Fridays
When: 9 October-1 November
Fussy eaters are well catered for here: under-12s choose a main plus two sides from the kids' menu, with options spanning fish fingers, a beef burger, a quesadilla, mac and cheese or crispy chicken tenders.
5. ASK Italian
When: 9-31 October
The Happy Face Pizza is still the headline act, though ASK's refreshed kids' menu also leans into simpler, more familiar flavours for pickier eaters. One adult main unlocks up to two free kids' meals per code.
When: 19-30 October (England and Wales); 12-23 October (Scotland)
This one's worth building a trip around: two free kids' meals per adult main, for up to eight children across four adults, spanning breakfast, carvery and mains. Expect omega-3 fish fingers, chicken nuggets, a 2oz beef burger, pork sausages, chilli or tomato pasta, with an ice cream scoop on top. It doesn't apply on weekends or bank holidays, so prepare to plan around that.
7. Marco Pierre White (select locations)
When: school holidays, excluding Saturdays after 6pm
A rare case of fine dining meeting family-friendly: a full-price adult main from the à la carte menu gets one under-12 a free two-course meal at select Marco Pierre White sites.
8. Zizzi (select locations)
When: 18 October-1 November (England, Wales, ROI and Northern Ireland); 11 October-1 November (Scotland)
The three-course Bambini meal at Zizzi runs the full arc – pasta crisps or dippy bits, a pizza or pasta main, then gelato, an ice lolly or a fruit pot — free with any adult main. You'll need the Zillionaires' Club app for the offer code first.
9. Frankie & Benny's (select locations)
When: 17 October-1 November (England, Wales and Northern Ireland); 10-25 October (Scotland)
One adult main, one free mini diner: a main, two sides, a drink and dessert included, no catches.
10. Bella Italia (select locations)
When: 17 October-1 November (England); 10-25 October (Scotland)
Three courses and a drink, free for kids with any adult main, a straightforward one to fall back on at Bella Italia.
11. YO! Sushi, Monday-Friday
When: school holidays
Watching dishes circle the conveyor belt is half the fun at YO! Sushi and a free kiddo's bento box – prawn katsu or chicken teriyaki – sweetens the deal when adults spend £10 or more. It's weekdays only so save it for a school holiday lunch rather than a weekend one.
12. Preto
When: ongoing
For something more hands-on, Preto's Brazilian rodízio lets under-10s eat free alongside a full-paying adult rodízio, every weekday from 4pm and all weekend. Book ahead and mention the offer when you arrive.
13. Las Iguanas (select locations)
When: school holidays
The Las Iguanas app perk covers burgers, quesadillas, a mild Bahian curry and churros with ice cream to finish. Claim it in the app before you go and one adult main unlocks a free meal from the Niños menu for an accompanying under-12 (lunch menu excluded).
14. The Real Greek
When: ongoing, Sundays
Sunday lunch plans? The Real Greek throws in a free meal for under-12s including a main, drink and a choice of ice cream or sorbet once the adults' bill passes £15 – a gentle introduction to Mediterranean flavours this October.
15. Turtle Bay

Hit £15 on adult mains at Turtle Bay and an under-10 eats free, choosing from a beef burger, pizza, Kingston fried chicken or sweetcorn fritters, with an ice cream scoop to round things off. Claim it through the app rewards.
16. Gordon Ramsay restaurants (select locations)

A bit of star power without the full price tag: order two courses as an adult at select Gordon Ramsay restaurants and an under-10 eats free from the Ramsay Kids' Menu.
17. Café Rouge
When: ongoing
Café Rouge keeps its offer running daily from 12-4pm, pairing a French-inspired adult lunch with a free children's meal with fish goujons or macaroni cheese among the options for anyone not quite ready for steak frites.
18. Village Hotels
When: 26-30 October
Living near a Village Hotel is handy this week. Weekday lunchtimes bring a free kids' main at the Pub & Grill with any adult main, though Village Blackpool sits this one out.
19. Tesco
When: ongoing until 12 December
A supermarket trip can double as a free lunch: Tesco's in-store cafés give you one free Kids Hot Meal Deal, Kids Breakfast or Pick 'n' Mix per adult purchase. Availability does vary by branch and some cafés only offer the Pick 'n' Mix (a sandwich, a drink, a fruit item and two snacks).
20. Premier Inn

Buy a full Premier Inn Breakfast and the kids' breakfast comes free. This is an easy way to keep everyone fuelled for the day ahead during a stay.
21. Purezza

Under-10s get a free mini pizza at Purezza (cheese, tomato or pepperoni) with any adult meal.

23. Morrisons

Morrisons' offer runs every day of the week: spend £5 or more on an adult main and an under-16 eats free, choosing from chicken dippers, fish fingers, veggie fingers or a mini four-cheese pizza, plus a drink normally worth £4 alone. The Kids Pick n Mix meal deal from the fridge is included too.
Where can children eat for £1 and under?
24. Honest Burgers
When: 16 October-2 November
More choice than the typical £1 deal: a burger or chicken tenders, two sides (from homemade onion rings to seasonal coleslaw or corn on the cob) and a drink, all for £1 per child. This deal applies to up to two kids per paying adult, making it an easy and affordable way to take the family out this October half term.
When: 26-30 October (England); 12-16 October (Scotland)
All day, Monday to Friday, one paying adult unlocks a £1 kids' meal including a main, dessert and drink at Flaming Grill Pubs, with a £1.50 upgrade available for the bigger appetites meal.
26. Dobbies (select locations)

It's a simple deal at Dobbies: a £1 breakfast with any adult traditional or full breakfast, or a £1 hot meal or Pick 'n' Mix Lunch Box with any adult main.
27. Hungry Horse (select locations)
When: 19-30 October
A full kids' meal deal including a main, drink and pudding comes to just £1 with any adult main at Hungry Horse. Bigger appetites can trade up to a large kids' meal for £1.50.
28. Sizzling Pubs, Monday-Friday

Order an adult main at Sizzling Pubs and kids eat for £1 from a menu covering the basics well. Think classic cheese and tomato pizza, fish fingers or a build-your-own main, side and veg.
