These cheesy waffles make for an indulgent brunch option. Hash browns, potato waffles or croissants would make delicious bases, too

Method
-
step 1
Heat the air fryer to 180C, or the oven to 200C/180C fan/gas 6. Arrange the waffles in a baking dish, overlapping as needed to fit.
-
step 2
Melt the butter and mustard together in a large saucepan over a low heat. Stir in the flour and cook for 1 min. Gradually pour in the milk, stirring continuously to prevent lumps. Turn the heat up to medium and cook, stirring occasionally until thickened. Remove from the heat and stir through 100g of the cheese and plenty of seasoning.
-
step 3
Roughly tear the ham and nestle it between the waffles. Pour over the cheese sauce, then sprinkle over the remaining grated cheese. Cook in the air fryer for 5-7 mins or oven for 10-15 mins until golden and bubbling. Sprinkle over the chives and serve with a green salad.
